The New York Times has a fascinating article on the Blackwater Mercenary base in Iraq. With razor wire topped twelve foot tall concrete walls surrounding a large collection of stacked shipping containers used for housing. It sounds like there are a few trailers used for common areas and cafeterias. Blackwater has even hired Columbian mercenaries to guard the gates. Now all we have to do is block those gates and use the compound as a prison facility run by the "sovereign" Iraqi government. This would instantly give the Iraqi government legitimate standing, and allow them to prosecute the Blackwater criminal gang. I for one would feel a lot safer with the Blackwater thugs rotting in an Iraqi jail.
Right now there are investigators on Blackwater like gay on Larry Craig. The House, Senate and FBI are poking under the body dumps, shining a light on the sewer that is the private mercenary industry. We are going to learn things that will make Abu Greb look like a Summer Camp.
