Spirit, the Mars rover, has been stuck in the sand for three months, exacerbated by a dead wheel motor. We have certainly got our money's worth out of the little lawn mower sized robot, but it would be nice to get to out of the crater and back to limping across the deserts of "Barsoom". Today on the Universe Today site we have new information. We learn that Spirit has move a couple of millimeters. YEA! The Spirit rover was only supposed to last about ninety days, but that was almost six years ago, and its twin, Opportunity, continues to roam unimpeded. Should Spirit get out of its crater it can continue on the remaining five driven wheels, dragging the frozen sixth. NASA has some kick-ass engineers.
